Christmas Town at Busch Gardens
Make your way to Busch Gardens’ Christmas Town for a dazzling holiday spectacle, complete with fantastic live shows, more than 5 million twinkling lights and delicious treats like peppermint fudge hot chocolate. Note: The Park does close at 9pm on New Year’s Eve. Still, strolling through Christmas Town is a great way to spend the last day of 2016.
First Night is another great way for families to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Williamsburg. This is the 24th annual year for First Night, which touts itself as alcohol free and kid-friendly. Performances will begin around 3:30pm on December 31st, with a multitude of venues participating in First Night. Admissions for First Night are $20/adults, $10 ages 13-3 and kids 2 and under are free. The Grand Finale Fireworks will begin at 11:30pm with fireworks set to display at midnight.

Blast off into the new year with the Virginia Living Museum’s
space adventure-themed Noon Year’s Eve celebration. Come dressed for your space adventure. Meet costumed characters from your favorite galactic movies and enjoy a variety of fun, spacey activities. You’ll also meet all kinds of Earthly Animals from the Teeny Tiny Farm. The countdown has started – see you on the launch pad. Special activities 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., museum open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities included in museum admission.
The Doubletree Williamsburg is hosting a New Year’s Eve Celebration from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Cocktail hour to include Chesapeake crab cakes and cocktail shrimp will occur from 7-8 p.m. This will be followed by a dinner buffet that features a station celebration with slow roasted prime rib with caramelized onions and garlic roasted mushrooms, gourmet macaroni and cheese station, a create your own New York Cheesecake station and many more. Dinner will be from 8-10 p.m. and there will be midnight snacks. Smith and Wade will be performing all night so you can dance the night away.
