"Maybe you should check around?"

I gave it "average" because the next lowest choice was "poor" on this review. Actual rating is somewhat less than average. Mattresses were "soft". We checked 3 rooms. All the same. Need replacing. Several times the desk clerk simply was gone. First night the clerk had an emergency ( I understand emergencies) but we waited about 30 minutes before the replacement arrived. Weird. At least 2 other times there was just no desk clerk for a while. Ice maker on second floor quit working 2 times(we were there Wed thru Sat). Breakfast was "ok", nothing about which to brag! Fridge & microwave included. Shower only. No tubs in any of the rooms. Price was c. $60 / night for the 4 days. I expected better but maybe that's to be expected unless you pay $100+!

"Terrible front desk service!!!"

Arrived tired and ready to get a good nights rest. WAITED and WAITED and WAITED at the front desk. A paper was left on the desk saying the person was away but for immediate service to call a number. The number was called MULTIPLE TIMES and NO ANSWER!! We already had reservations and had paid for our stay through Expedia which is why I stood at the desk for at least 30 minutes. I finally called Expedia to explain we needed to cancel reservations because no one would come to the desk or answer the phone. Now this was around 8:00 p.m. I maybe would've expected something like this had it been in the middle of the night... (but not quite) Expedia tried calling the number as well and on first attempt there was no answer. Finally, Amy at the front desk appeared with no apology and acted as if nothing was wrong. When asked where she'd been for the last 30-35 minutes she said she was assisting someone in their room. Really??? When asked why she didn't answer the phone she said it must not have been in the room with her. No care or concern at all. Never will I stay in this motel ... Went down the road to Hampton Inn and was immediately greeted by the girl behind the desk ready to assist me.

Great price, clean, and nice. Had an indoor pool for my teen girls who love it. Great breakfast bagels, eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, and more. My only issue is that we could not get a handicapped room and my daughter is in a wheelchair. Only 1 other car was in the handicapped parking so not sure why it was not available so our space was very limited in the room but we made it work. Will be back Thanks

"Convenient & Efficient, But . . . ."

I actually changed my original reservations, selecting this property after reading the TripAdvisor reviews for a small group of 7 adults visiting the Williamsburg/Busch Gardens area for Howl-O-Scream. The Good The hotel is in a GREAT location about 5 mins drive from Colonial Williamsburg and within 10-15 minutes to the Williamsburg Winery and Busch Gardens. The price is right, and it's snuggled between or near several well-known chain restaurants like Golden Corral & Denny's. There's also a Christmas Store and a 7-11 with REALLY reasonable gas prices just steps away although we didn't have time to visit. The lobby is bright and attractive, the indoor, heated, pool looked inviting although, again, we didn't have time to try it. There was ample, free, parking and the breakfast buffet was, as noted, adequate, including eggs, sausage patties and make-your-own waffles along with other items. While breakfast was the same each day, a short walk across the parking lot would allow guest to avail themselves of Cracker Barrel or Denny's options. The wifi worked well. The desk attendants were FABULOUS. Great, friendly, customer service. The Bad My room had a faint, moldy, stink, which I was willing to endure for all the other attributes, but . . . one light fixture didn't work, my carpet, bed skirt, and room corners were pretty filthy. The bathroom showed evidence of shoddy, sloppy, repair, including an awkward sliding door with out a handle or handhold and that didn't lock, a toilet so low as to give one a quad workout on each visit, and on the morning after my first night, I stepped out of the shower to find a GIGANTIC stink bug casually traversing the white sheets of my bed. The Indifferent The room has two beds, but the beds are full sized, not queen-sized, so they're best used for one body, each. The bathroom has only a shower. If one is noise-sensitive, it's best to know that activity in the next room was fairly easy to overhear. The beds are not the most comfortable, but the pillows were great. I've attached photos of both the rooms assets and detractions. I didn't report any concerns to management while there because: 1) I didn't want to walk away from the stinkbug and lose sight of it and I figured where there was one, there were more, so moving rooms wouldn't make sense. 2) I was only in the room from 11p to 7am for two days. It was evident the room had been made up, so I had to assume that any other room would have similar cleanliness issues. As the organizer of the adult travel group staying there, the short time I spent at the hotel was devoted to trip logistics. SO, my advice to the squeamish or those with high cleanliness standards: balance the good w/the not-so-good at this property. Or bring cleaning supplies.
