This is our second visit to this hotel. The front desk clerk was very friendly and efficient. I had booked a King Suite and we were placed on the 3rd floor. The room was very nice, even though the furniture seemed dated. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in. The overall size of the room was very big and it was nice to have a separate sitting area from the sleeping quarters. My two complaints were that the furniture was dated and the chair was coming apart. I had to tell the front desk to warn future guests because the staples were exposed and someone could very well cut themselves. Second, do NOT book a room near the front of the hotel. It was extremely noisy the both nights that we were there. You hear the Richmond Road traffic as if it is right outside your window! Every car, siren or even loud people on the sidewalk can be heard from from 304! In fact, the people in the room next to us were very loud as well and they were just holding a conversation. I don't know if the walls are too thin or what. While the beds are comfortable, the noise will prevent you from getting a good night's rest on that side of the hotel. That said, everything else was good. Even the complimentary buffet. I do suggest you get there early as the food tends to get cold if you wait until closer to 10.

This Marriott property is clean, comfortable and in a great location. The staff is very friendly. Upon arriving we were told by General Manager Cathy Patton that the cable was out. Stuff like this happens and of course, it is through no fault of the hotel. However, Cathy was extremely accommodating and expressed genuine concern that we would be comfortable. She even offered to send us up the road to their sister property if having cable tv was important to us. It is not and we stayed here and I'm very glad we did. We had a king suite. The bed and the furniture were very comfortable. And the room was attractively decorated. It even had a stereo for listening to music. The wifi is powerful and works fine. The complimentary breakfast was above average with plenty of choices including my favorite protein source - hard boiled eggs. The seating area for breakfast was large. All the staff I met were courteous, cheerful (!) and friendly. We will definitely return here in the future.

While the hotel was convenient to Colonial Williamsburg and restaurants for dinner and the staff friendly, it was a bit outdated and subpar for the rooms. Upon arrival, I was given a King room instead of the King Suite which I had reserved weeks earlier. The lady at the front desk didn't even tell me, but waited to explain things after I came back to complain. There was 3 people in the party and we needed more than one bed. She goes on to tell me there are no suites available and she can send me a cot to sleep on. I was floored that I had reserved a room online but it wasn't available when I checked in. Plus the fact she thought it was OK for one of us to sleep on a cot. After several minutes, I finally got her to change the room for a 2 double bed room. You would have thought they would tell you upon checking in if the room you expected wasn't available and you were being moved to another room type. This is not the type of service I have expected from a Marriott hotel.
Good clean rooms all standard fair. The pluses... Great breakfast, with a large area to eat so there is plenty of room. And location, the hotel is in a great location for a good price. If you want to visit historic Williamsburg or if you are on a business trip like me to the near by Naval Base in Yorktown. Food, you really do not have to drive to get to some decent food. There is an excellent Pizza shop right across the parking lot with an I-Hop less than a couple of hundred feet away. Dunkin Donuts, Chipoltle and several other eateries all within easy walking distance. A nice new little perk they have is if you stay for an extended time and do not need your room serviced you can earn 250 point by letting the front-desk know. When you check in, you will get a little card that has the rules for (Skip Houskeeping). The only real complaint and this is for ALL Mariott Properties! is the internet service. I was Platinum Marriott member for years (now Gold), the idea of getting a slower internet service unless you pay (silver and lower members must paying for quality internet) is just sad... All in all this hotel makes for a good no-frills basecamp for exploring Williamsburg.
