"I wasn't expecting much, but it was worse than I imagined"

I did try to contact Clarion via email, but could not find an email address on their site, and I did notify staff there of the smell and lighting issues. Worst problem was the room smell. I thought I could deal with it, but I woke up at 1 am with headache and could not stop coughing. I went outside for an hour to replenish with fresh air. Back in the room I was coughing again. I considered just going to my car to try to sleep, but was able to doze for a few more hours and left without showering in the less than clean bathtub. (I love dogs and don't have allergies). Lighting was terrible, and at least one bulb was out. The bathroom was really old and dark spots in the tub, so lack of lighting may be intentional. Lastly, I asked for an AAA or AARP rate, was told it was $59, but found out later that it was less. The hotel ws convenient to colonial Williamsburg (I walked there), but I would not stay there again.

"A short Labor Day stay"

As others have noted -- the hotel is still under renovation. It's clearly a much older hotel and some parts still direly need their upgrades that are in progress (vending area on the first floor was a bit beat up, no working ice machine, etc). The lobby & front office that are visible to guests were a bit of an eyesore. The lack of fans in the bathroom was also weird -- it made for a foggy post-shower time! BUT our room was in great condition, the beds comfy, and the staff? The staff were the best part of the stay. They were prompt in answering questions and so very friendly. The staff member who acted as "puppy sitter" was so nice. We didn't use her services, but our dog loved seeing her! She put him at ease very quickly. We are definitely planning to stay again!

"Decent experience "

My husband & I arrive on Friday evening. We were greeted by two friend people at the front desk. The room was clean and cold. You can tell they are still under renovations. The bathroom needs an exhaust since after showering it's all steamed up. Overall, we had a good overnight experience.

"Disgusting!!!"

My husband and I checked into the hotel and upon entering the room it smelled. Then when walking towards the air conditioner, I noticed something moving on the tv cabinet to find MULTIPLE cockroaches!!! My husband looked in the bathroom and found more!! We immediately left!! The only good thing the front desk was compassionate to our situation and gave us a full refund.
