"Renovation is one thing, this was something else!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed July 25, 2016 NEW

We did not know there were renovations planned for during our stay...maybe that would have made a difference. You decide. We had 2 connecting rooms, 2 double beds in each room. Only 1 room had a 'fridg and neither had microwaves. Bathrooms were barely large enough to turn around in. Our rooms were right in front of the only elevator and very noisy. After the first night, we asked to be moved. We were moved to a much quieter room. However, there was no 'fridg in either room, still no microwave in either room, the phone in one room did not work (frayed wires, see pic), mold/mildew on bathroom tiles...just a mess. We called the front desk to see if they had a refrigerator from somewhere and they brought us one...that did not fit the cabinet. We had to move furniture around to accommodate it - it was old with ice caked in the freezer area. We were told these were the only 2 connecting rooms available so we stuck with them. Hallways were dusty/dirty from the renovation from another floor! I have never been so happy to leave a hotel. Yes, it's close to Historic Williamsburg.

"The good the bad the ugly"

Good bed. The bad The couple next door in 456 had some anger issues. Which almost had us call the police. The ugly we stayed on the 4th floor the elevator stop working we walked down with our suit cases to the car. As I went to check out the girl at the counter was busy on the phone with another angry customer. She was telling me she has to leave the counter to fix the elevator, but couldn't because no one else was there to help herI'm like really. Security doors were propped open at night no security. Will not be back. This was my second hotel in Williamsburg va my thought is don't go budget.

"Could Have Been Better"

I have stayed at this hotel several times. This by far was the worst. Lots of renovations going on which is fine but you had to walk through the mess to get to the rooms. The tile in the shower needed some attention. On the plus side it was quiet. It was a cheap place to sleep. If your looking for a nice hotel I would stay somewhere else. If all you need is a shower and a nap then this is fine.

"If You're In the Middle Of Something, Don't Let Me Interrupt You."

We were put in the Clarion Hotel as part of the Blue Green Vacations package, you know, those 4 days-3 nights-stay-for- free-if-you-listen-to-a-- hr-presentation type of deals. First of all, we were surprised that we were not put into a place that Blue Green Vacations were trying to "sell". Wouldn't they want us to try out all that they have to offer? One would think so. Clarion is next door to where the presentation was. I read the reviews on the Clarion beforehand and several had mentioned that they were in the middle of renovations. I thought that by the time we checked in, renovations would be over and we would score a newly renovated room. Wrong. We were on the 4th floor. All the time we were there, the 1st floor rooms were being totally renovated. Carpet ripped up, furnishing moved out, etc... Our room was not as clean as I would have liked. The corners of the bathroom floors were dirty, tub was missing the drain stopper, the bottom half of the bathroom door on the inside was missing paint, and oddly, there was no toilet paper holder. There was one side of the toilet paper holder sticking out. We complained to the front desk who then switched us to the room next door. A little better but oddly enough, the same one side knob instead of a toilet paper holder. Was the knob supposed to be a towel hanger? I'm confused. Beds were comfortable, A/C was sufficient considering there was a heat wave. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Would we stay here again? Nope. Would I try it out after the renovations? Nope. We usually stay at a Best Western where there is a complimentary hot breakfast (not continental!) , free WiFi, free parking ,pool and exercise room. I don't think this is asking too much of a mid level hotel these days.
