"Horrible stay with no management follow up"

We had high hopes when we learned the Best Western had been sold. I booked early for our King's Dominion 5k run/ fun day in the park trip. Unfortunately from the moment we made it to the property, things began going wrong. We were placed in room 131 which seems to be immediately above the unofficial employee smoking area. Our room smelled of smoke when we first entered, mildew when I laid my head on the pillow and mold in the bathroom. The front desk person seemed to be troubled to even wait on me. After checking in, we went to park- well there are signs all over saying permit parking only. She again seemed annoyed when I returned to get a parking permit stating that that they don't do permits, the signs don't mean anything. So basically anyone can get free parking for Kings Dominion by staying in this lot?! We were concerned, but still ended up asking for more towels and to get some shampoo. Turns out all the other rooms in this hotel have shampoo and soap dispensers but not ours! So we were not even able to bathe! The pool seemed to be a huge party and the kids were having a blast, but the music had a multitude of inappropriate lyrics even though it was only 6 pm. Finally, the day we checked out the manager, Cartha asked how my stay was. I was honest with him. He pressed me for details about the employees who were smoking as it is "a known issue," but at no point did he apologize for our experience. He also GUARANTEED he would follow up with me by phone (I made sure he had my phone number and it was correct) and I received no phone calls. He also made no effort to make our stay right like providing a refund. He stated he hoped we would stay with them in the future. Nope.... not with the way he didn't follow through, the behavior of his colleagues, the state of the room and the general atmosphere. We used to love the Best Western...perhaps we will try the Motel 6...I mean they don't manage the pool but it's not like there's a lock on it...

"Convenient to Kings Dominion"

We drove to Kings Dominion and wanted a hotel within close proximity. Centerstone was a great choice. We stayed in rooms 115 and 116 on the ground level, facing Kings Dominon. The room was very nice with hardwood floors, muted earth tones and quiet. We walked across the parking lot to the main gate of Kings Dominion in just a few minutes, making it easy for us to come and go from the park as needed. There is a courtyard that has a swimming pool (which was closed as it was off season during our stay), tennis courts, a ping pong table and shuffleboard. The kids had a great time getting equipment from the front desk and playing each game as long as they wanted. The hotel is connected to a Denny's which made breakfast a no-brainer. We enjoyed our stay.

The room was the size of a prison cell with stained wood laminate flooring. The walls were a horrible patchwork of stucco painted the color of something you might find in a baby's diaper. The "amenities" included a coffee maker with packets that did not fit, and one thimble-size paper cup. Very dark and depressing.

Stayed here many times before when it was originally Best Western Hotel on our way north and our return from New England. Pleased to see the upgrades to the room. Carpet removed and wood flooring installed. Other upgrades done also. Dennys restaurant on site which was convenient.

Let me start off by explaining why I gave Centerstone such a bad review. First off I booked the hotel package online in April. I received my confirmation and also my total of the two rooms booked. I sent a credit card authorization form to pay for both rooms in full with a two-day pass to Kings Dominion. I called in May to confirmed all payments was recieved and when I called the Manager (Kaasha) said the system was down and could verfy payments but i had a total of 6 tix for Kings dominion (should of been 7). So I explained to her how I booked 7 people and on my end and my confirmation was 7. She explained to me how she would have to look into the matter for me. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK... I kept calling several times and left several messages for a call back. WELL on the day of check in. I bring all my documents and confirmation. I spoke to the Clerk at the front desk (had a nice attuitude but poor customer service experience) I explained to her how I had an issue in April with confirming tix and price, she told me everything looked good on her in, she then issued me the tix. No problem... She gave me my room key and I went and saw that I paid for pool side room. I went back to clerk and explain to her that I paid for pool side rooms. She tells me... the room were already assigned and she WILL NOT go back and fix the situation because she don't want to mess things up. OH that was different ... (I thought that was your job) but anyway we kept the room that "were assigned" to us. Next day I am in the park and I get a notification that my card was charge 77.00. I go back to the hotel to figure out why are you charging my card. The same clerk tells me that I owe them over 200.00 dollars and that they will eat that(not sure how or why). so I explain to her the following.. Gave her my confirmation and my cc statement showing all charges.... SO now I'm super pissed. I told the clerk I would like to see the manager. The clerk goes to the back, comes back 10 minutes later and tells me how the manager doesn't want to see me, and she will review the paper work and get back to me. I expained to the clerk, how I don't do third pary conversation and the manager will need to come out and see me. I waited 45 minutes for the manager to come out. She comes out and i wanted an explaination to why my card is being charge where i am showing proof i paid everything in full. She tells me is not sure and she will have to investagate. I go back to the park to get a phone call from the manager. She tells me she can't explain the charges and that she will have to wait for the other manager to come in Kaasha to ask her . She advised me that i still owe 34.00 and that she would not charge me because she can see where i was paid in full. Ok Saturday comes NO CALL FROM KAASHA THE MANAGER.... we check out the guy at the front desk asures me that my charge are paid in full and i advise him also that on the bill they are charging me every day for a safe in two rooms that don't work. Ok never mind the safe charges. So I get home to see that I have another charge on my cc of 34.00. This place has the worst customer service that will keep charging your card with no explaination to why even when your providing detail documentation on your end. I will never ever go back to this place. Suppose to be a family enviorment but they allow guest to smoke weed in the pool. The best customer experiernce is the bar and Dennys... She was super sweet. and Denny's customer service was superb. The shuttle bus (NONE) YOU WILL HAVE TO WALK TO KINGS DOMINION ..... I am currently disputing the 77.00 and 34.00 charges with my credit card company.. But i warn you... Do not go here, it's a totally let down. Not the same when its was Best Western. The rooms are run down and moldy and floors are dirty. House keeping are doing a good job with the run down place but the up keep and dirty furniture made us NOT want to sleep there. OH yea.. I can't forget about the beds.. They say 2 doubles bed... you are not getting a QUEEN size you are getting full size beds. So imaging to grown ups trying to sleep in a full size bed. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...take your money and go across the street to the other hotels. They are newer and customer service is so much better
